Salvador Perez tied George Brett’s Kansas City franchise record with the 317th home run of his career, launching a 437-foot, two-run shot that started a five-run seventh-inning rally in the Royals’ 5-4 victory over San Francisco.
Kansas City entered the seventh trailing 3-0 and had collected only two hits. Perez changed the game with one swing, and the Royals completed the comeback to finish a three-game sweep of the Giants.

For seven innings, the game belonged to the pitching staffs. San Diego carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the eighth after Michael King limited Atlanta to one run over six innings.
The Braves then scored six times in the eighth. Rookie Jim Jarvis opened the surge with an RBI double, and Atlanta suddenly owned a 7-1 advantage.
San Diego refused to close quietly. The Padres scored five runs in the ninth and brought the potential tying run into the late-inning pressure, but Atlanta finally recorded the last out and escaped with a one-run victory.
